WELCOME TO OUR BOOK DISCUSSION WIKI OF MCBA BOOKS

Birch Meadow Elementary School's fifth and fourth grade students are invited to share their thoughts about the books that they have read, or are still reading, on this year's Massachusetts Children's Book Award list. We also hope that the discussions found on this WIKI will help guide students to books they will enjoy reading.


DISCUSSION POSSIBILITIES

Comment on an aspect of the book, plot, character or setting.
  • Was the setting an important element of the story? Why?
  • What was your favorite part of the story?
  • Which character in the story caught your interest the most? Why?
  • Did this book remind you of any other books that you have previously read?
  • Give your opinion of the book citing specific examples from the book.
  • Recommend the MCBA book for a certain audience. Explain
  • Go to the author website and comment on something you learned about the author or one of their other books
  • If you could give the book your own award, explain what it would be?

- Try to maintain a discussion thread.
Comments should relate to previous discussion points as you continue the discussion with your
posting.
- Be as informative as you can be.
Support your statements by referring back to information found in the book.
- Your audience is global.
